The South African division of Bosch Power Tools launched a new range of industrial products designed specifically for the professional finishing of stainless steel at the end of last year.
In September 2013, Bosch Power Tools SA officially launched the GSI 14 CE Professional burnisher, the GRB 14 CE Professional pipe belt sander, the GEF 7 E Professional power file and the GWS 15-125 Inox Professional angle grinder. Bosch Industrial Power Tools senior brand manager Craig Berridge says all industrial tools in the stainless steel range are designed with specific applications in mind.
The Bosch GSI 14 CE Professional burnisher, for example, is suitable for professional projects that require the removal of mill scale - the flaky surface formed on the outer surfaces of plates, sheets or profiles when they are being produced by rolling red hot iron or steel billets in rolling mills.
"Mill scale is a major challenge during steel processing, as any paint applied over it will be wasted, due to the fact that it will peel off. The Bosch GSI 14 CE Professional burnisher is powered by a 1400W motor and boasts a no-load speed of 750 rpm to 3 000 rpm, thereby ensuring the swift removal of mill scale. What’s more, the tool is also designed for the removal of tarnish, scratches and flaws, in addition to brushing, burnishing and structuring surfaces," he explains.
Berridge states that the Bosch GRB 14 CE Professional pipe belt sander is ideally-suited to the local building and plumbing sector. "The Bosch GRB 14 CE Professional pipe belt sander is powered by a 1400W motor, with a no-load speed ranging between 750 rpm and 3 000 rpm. This pipe belt sander is highly effective in the sanding of pipes that vary in diameter and geometry. The abrasive belt wraps up to 270 degrees, thereby enabling complete 360 degree pipe finishing in just two stages."
According to Berridge, the Bosch 720W GEF 7 E Professional power file has a no-load speed ranging between 2 800 rpm and 11 000 rpm. "The power file is a universal tool that boasts a slim line design, making it ideal for applications that require work in hard-to-reach areas such as corners and edges. Thanks to its unique slim grip circumference, the tool can be guided with precision and ease."
Berridge highlights the fact that the Bosch GWS 15-125 Inox Professional angle grinder is specifically designed for sanding, cutting and deburring stainless steel pipes, surfaces and weld seams. "A no-load speed of between 2 200 rpm and 7 500 rpm allows for the gentle working of materials and prevents tarnishing of stainless steel. Furthermore, its 1500W motor delivers up to 50 per cent more torque than standard angle grinders, thereby ensuring improved power and efficiency."
